My sister-in-law couldn’t believe that I had gone to a Tupperware Party and hadn’t asked her to do it! She had been in Tupperware for several years when I went to my first party at a friends’ because she asked me. After spending over $100. at the party, I was a believer in the product. What I didn’t know was how much my sister in law made so I was amazed to find that she was making over $200. a party and a free car! There had to be a catch!
I had been a life insurance sales rep, food plan sales rep., recruiter for office support staff, computer operator and tape librarian to name just a few of my jobs. My ambition was to be an actress so I had a degree from Kent State in Theatre. It seemed like every job I held there was something that just didn’t fit. One paid well but I had to work third shift. One job was fun but paid nothing. All the while I was searching for a life partner to no avail.
Everything seemed to fall into place when I met my partner, Tammey. She was funny, smart and had ambition. It was her sister-in law that was in Tupperware. She just needed one more person to help her make a trip to Hawaii. I agreed to have a party to help her. Then I went to the Sales Meeting. These women were really making decent money for selling plastic bowls!! I decided to try when I was offered a free bowl set to “just to try it”.
As the months went by, I learned that there was a catch! You had to tell people you were with Tupperware!! If that was the only catch, I was going to tell everyone with in a 1 foot radius that I was a Tupperware Rep. I learned quickly though and within the first year I had a new car which I really needed because my transmission was almost shot.
Since then I have been in Tupperware for over 12yrs, been on many trips, and had many cars plus made a great living! I love my friends that I have met. However it has been the recognition that has kept me going. Being part of a company that recognizes me for everything that I do and what my team does, is a great feeling. People stay at a company for 2 things. And first is not money! It is recognition.
At my partner’s job she would get recognition and free trips too. So when she earned a trip to the Bahamas, I knew I wanted to turn it up a notch to become a Director to earn a trip to Hawaii!! After several tries at DIQ, I made it through. We could go to Hawaii! It was soon after we found out that the back surgery that Tammey had been putting off could no longer be put off. She had her surgery and I cared for her during her recovery. Thank-God for Tupperware! If it had been any other job, I would have been fired. After another surgery and 2 yrs later she is ready to go back to work. My team is growing. I am growing! Life is a journey which I am eternally grateful that I was offered the opportunity to “just try it”!
